The Israeli military said one of its fighter jets was nearly shot down during operations over Iran amid the ongoing conflict.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Iranian air defenses attempted to intercept the aircraft during a mission. The missile or defensive system came close to hitting the jet, but the interception attempt ultimately failed.
The IDF said the aircraft avoided being struck due to the pilot’s alertness and quick response, allowing the fighter to complete its mission successfully and return safely.
The incident has since been investigated by the Israeli Air Force (IAF), with officials stating that operational lessons were learned from the encounter as air operations over Iran continue.
Israeli fighter jets have been conducting frequent strike missions targeting Iranian military infrastructure, including missile facilities, weapons production sites, and strategic installations across the country.
