An incident involving an Iranian drone targeting central Dubai was reported earlier, with footage showing thick smoke rising over the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) following explosions in the area.
Videos circulating online showed visible structural damage and smoke over the financial district, raising concerns about a direct strike on the building.
However, the Dubai Media Office clarified that the damage observed in the area was caused by debris from a successful interception of an incoming aerial threat, rather than a direct drone impact.
Authorities confirmed that UAE air defense systems intercepted the drone, and falling debris from the destroyed aerial target resulted in limited damage within the DIFC area.
The incident occurred amid the ongoing regional escalation involving Iranian missile and drone attacks across the Gulf, with several Gulf countries reporting multiple interceptions of aerial threats in recent days.
