Hezbollah Violates Lebanon Ceasefire with Rocket, Drone Attacks

Hezbollah breaches Lebanon ceasefire with rocket attacks on Israeli troops in Rab al-Thalathine and drone launch toward border communities. IDF strikes launcher and intercepts unmanned aircraft, declaring "blatant violations" of fragile ten-day truce.

Hezbollah violated the ten-day Lebanon ceasefire Monday by firing rockets at Israeli troops in southern Lebanon and launching a drone toward Israeli territory, the IDF confirmed. The attacks mark first major militia breach of the truce that took effect April 16.
Rockets targeted Israeli forces stationed in the Rab al-Thalathine area within the Israeli security zone. The IDF struck the launcher within minutes of the attack. Separately, sirens in Kfar Yuval and Ma’ayan Baruch border communities were triggered by a Lebanese drone intercepted before crossing into Israel.
The military characterized both incidents as “blatant violations of the ceasefire agreement.” The escalation tests the fragile truce mediated by the United States and personally guaranteed by President Trump, who had publicly urged Hezbollah to “act nicely and well” during the critical period.
Hezbollah’s non-participation in ceasefire negotiations had raised persistent doubts about militia compliance. The attacks suggest Iranian proxy leadership either rejects the state-level agreement or seeks to demonstrate independent operational capacity regardless of Lebanese government commitments.
Israeli forces maintain positions in southern Lebanon and retain explicit self-defense rights under the ceasefire terms. The rocket and drone launches provide justification for potential Israeli military response, threatening rapid truce collapse despite American diplomatic investment.
The timing—amid failed U.S.-Iran talks and approaching ceasefire expiration—raises questions about coordinated Iranian-Hezbollah strategy to pressure Washington through multiple simultaneous crises.
