The spectacle of influencer boxing met the harsh reality of the heavyweight division on Saturday night, as former two-time unified champion Anthony Joshua delivered a devastating sixth-round knockout of Jake Paul in Riyadh. The fight, billed as “The Truth vs. The Titan,” ended in frightening fashion, with Paul being rushed to a local hospital immediately following the count.
Sources from Paul’s camp have confirmed to ESPN that the 28-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer sustained a broken jaw from the final blow and is currently undergoing emergency surgery at King Fahd Medical City.

For the first five rounds, Paul displayed surprising resilience, utilizing a high guard and erratic movement to survive Joshua’s stalking pressure. However, the size and skill disparity became painfully evident by the third frame. Joshua, weighing in at a lean 255 lbs, appeared to be carrying Paul in the early stages, landing stiff jabs that snapped Paul’s head back but refraining from unloading his full arsenal.
That changed in the sixth. Seeming to tire of the exhibition, Joshua cornered Paul against the ropes. After a feint to the body dropped Paul’s hands, Joshua unleashed a piston-like straight right hand that connected flush with Paul’s chin. The sound of the impact was audible ringside. Paul collapsed instantly, unconscious before he hit the canvas, prompting the referee to wave off the fight without a count.
“He has heart, I’ll give him that,” Joshua said in the ring, showing little celebration as medics attended to his fallen opponent. “But there are levels to this game. You don’t play boxing. I hope he heals up, but this should be a lesson.”placeholder://
The brutal finish likely marks the end of Paul’s experiment with true heavyweight contenders. While he had previously defeated aged MMA stars and journeymen boxers, sharing the ring with a prime athletic heavyweight proved a step too far. As the arena emptied, the mood was somber, with the spectacle of the event overshadowed by the severity of Paul’s injury.
