🇺🇸🇮🇱 A bipartisan bill introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives could grant President Donald Trump authority to provide Israel access to B-2 Spirit stealth bombers and 30,000-pound bunker buster bombs if Iran is found to be continuing nuclear weapons development.
The legislation, known as the “Bunker Buster Act”, was sponsored by Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D) and Rep. Mike Lawler (R). It does not include a transfer of permanent ownership, but would allow for unprecedented operational cooperation, including training, deployment, and equipment use.
The U.S. military maintains 24 active B-2 bombers, capable of deep-penetration strikes. Fox News reports the U.S. used such bombers recently to target Iran’s nuclear infrastructure at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
Lawmakers backing the bill emphasize its importance in enabling Israel to deter Iran and prepare for worst-case scenarios. Gottheimer stated: “Iran can never be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon. Israel must be ready to act decisively if needed.”
The bill passed the House and is expected to be signed by President Trump on July 4.
