A senior Iranian official told Tasnim that U.S. President Donald J. Trump backed down from attacking key Iranian infrastructure after Tehran’s military threats became credible.
The official added that pressure from financial markets, including concerns related to bonds in the U.S. and Western economies, also played a major role in the decision.
He stated that since the start of the war, Iran has received messages through mediators, but its position remains unchanged—Tehran will continue defending itself until it achieves the required level of deterrence.
