An Israeli airstrike in Tehran earlier this week killed a senior official in Iran’s Intelligence Ministry, according to IDF Spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin.
The official, identified as Mehdi Rastami Shamastan, was targeted on Wednesday following what Defrin described as joint intelligence work conducted by Israel’s Military Intelligence Directorate, the Mossad, and the Shin Bet.
According to the IDF, Shamastan played a central role in advancing operations targeting Israeli and Jewish civilians both inside Israel and abroad.
