U.S. President Donald Trump said the war with Iran could end soon, stating that most major military targets inside Iran have already been destroyed.
In a brief phone interview with Israel’s N12, Trump said the military campaign has progressed faster than expected and claimed that “almost nothing is left to strike in Iran.” He added that while he does not want to give a specific timeline, the conflict could conclude whenever he decides the objectives have been met.
Trump described the campaign as highly successful, saying the United States and its allies are “far ahead of schedule” and have inflicted more damage on Iranian military infrastructure than originally anticipated.
According to U.S. officials, American forces recently targeted Iranian naval assets involved in potential mining operations in the Strait of Hormuz, destroying 16 Iranian mine-laying boats. Intelligence reports suggested Iran had begun preparing to deploy naval mines in the strategic waterway, which is one of the most critical global routes for oil shipments.
Despite Trump’s suggestion that the war could end soon, Israeli and U.S. officials reportedly say no official directive has been issued yet to halt the strikes, and preparations are underway for at least two more weeks of operations if necessary.
Trump also warned that Iran is facing consequences for decades of regional conflict, saying Tehran is “paying for 47 years of death and destruction” caused across the Middle East.
