🇮🇱 Israel has agreed to further concessions regarding the scope of its military withdrawal from the Gaza Strip as part of an emerging hostage deal and ceasefire agreement, according to senior Israeli officials.
In a significant update, the Israeli negotiation team today presented revised maps showing a reduced IDF presence in Rafah, indicating a buffer zone of less than two kilometers north of the Philadelphi Corridor on the Gaza-Egypt border. This marks a notable shift from Israel’s original stance, which included military control stretching up to five kilometers north of the corridor.
An Israeli senior official stated:
“We’re demonstrating seriousness and readiness to take additional steps to reach a deal. Now it’s Hamas’s turn to show flexibility and treat the negotiations seriously. Nothing will move forward without strong American pressure.”
These changes underline Israel’s intention to advance talks and secure a hostage release and long-term truce, although much now hinges on Hamas’s response and U.S. diplomatic involvement.
