The Israeli military has confirmed that one of the bodies recovered from beneath the European Hospital in Khan Younis belongs to Mohammad Al-Sinwar, the younger brother of Hamas political leader Yahya Al-Sinwar.

According to a report by Yedioth Ahronoth, final forensic identification was completed earlier today. The underground command complex, located below the hospital in southern Gaza, was reportedly used by senior Hamas officials to coordinate operations.
The Israeli army says it had previously launched an operation targeting this underground facility, based on intelligence suggesting the presence of high-ranking Hamas commanders. The complex was raided and bodies were recovered. The area was evacuated beforehand, and the operation was conducted under air force cover.
The army released visual documentation of the underground network, describing it as a command-and-control hub directly beneath the hospital structure.
Strategic Target: European Hospital Bunker
The European Hospital in Khan Younis has been at the center of Israeli operations in recent weeks, amid ongoing claims that Hamas has embedded leadership and logistical infrastructure beneath civilian structures. The discovery of Al-Sinwar’s body is being seen by the Israeli military as both symbolically and operationally significant.
The military is continuing to analyze the remains and identities of other high-ranking Hamas members found at the site. Al-Sinwar’s death, if confirmed beyond doubt, would mark a major blow to Hamas’ leadership structure in Gaza, especially within the military wing.
The Israeli government has not yet made an official political statement, but military channels have confirmed the identification process and shared satellite and ground imagery of the site.
