🇮🇱🇮🇷 Middle East – In a bold escalation, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) has confirmed targeting an Iranian military refueling aircraft stationed at Mashhad International Airport in northeast Iran—approximately 2,300 kilometers from Israeli territory. This makes it the most distant confirmed Israeli airstrike since the beginning of its current military operation.
The airstrike caused a large fire at the airport, according to Iranian sources, with satellite and video footage already circulating online. The IDF later acknowledged the strike, stating:
“The Air Force is working to achieve air superiority throughout Iran.”
The IAF’s attack on Mashhad marks not only a geographical milestone but also a strategic one, highlighting Israel’s extended operational reach. The last comparable long-range strike by Israel occurred in 1985, when Israeli jets hit the PLO headquarters in Tunisia, also over 2,000 km away.
