For the second time since the war began, Israel has eliminated Iran’s top war commander. In a precision airstrike deep in Tehran, Israeli jets killed Ali Shadmani, the country’s highest-ranking military officer and chief war commander, closely linked to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Shadmani was in charge of Iran’s emergency military headquarters, overseeing both the IRGC and the regular army. He was appointed after his predecessor, Alam Ali Rashid, was killed in Israel’s opening wave of strikes.
This marks one of the most significant blows to Iran’s wartime command structure to date.
