US Elections: U.S. Intelligence Warns of Foreign Interference Led by Russia
Top U.S. intelligence officials intensified warnings on Monday regarding foreign interference in the election, particularly from Russia. This joint concern, highlighted by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, FBI, and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, follows Friday’s warnings about foreign attempts to influence the election. The agencies reported observing “foreign adversaries, especially Russia, engaging in additional influence operations aimed at undermining public confidence in the integrity of the U.S. elections and sowing division among Americans.”
These efforts are expected to intensify on Election Day, focusing on seven critical swing states: Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and North Carolina. “Russia remains the most active threat,” stated the joint release, noting Russian-affiliated groups have been producing fake videos and news to discredit the election’s legitimacy, intimidate voters, and exaggerate violence among politically opposing groups.
The agencies warned that this interference might incite violence, including threats against election officials, and noted that additional fabricated content is likely to circulate on Election Day and in the following weeks. A recent Russian-produced video falsely depicting an interview alleging electoral fraud in Arizona in support of Kamala Harris was already debunked by Arizona’s Secretary of State as false.
The statement also noted Iran’s “malicious cyber activities” intended to harm Trump. Iran, seeking to influence the election via fake videos and inflammatory posts, remains determined to retaliate for the January 2020 killing of Qassem Soleimani in a U.S. airstrike in Iraq, ordered by Trump.

وأوضحت أن هذه الجهود ستتكثف طوال يوم الثلاثاء، يوم الانتخابات، وما بعده، وستكون مركزة على الولايات السبع الرئيسية التي قد تحسم الفائز وهي: أريزونا ونيفادا وميشيغان وويسكونسن وبنسلفانيا وجورجيا ونورث كارولاينا. وجاء في البيان المشترك: “تعد روسيا التهديد الأكثر نشاطاً”، مشيراً إلى إنتاج جهات روسية “فيديوهات وأخباراً مزيفة” لتقويض شرعية الانتخابات وتخويف الناخبين.
كما حذرت الوكالات من أن التدخل الروسي قد يثير العنف، بما في ذلك ضد مسؤولي الانتخابات. وأشارت إلى مقطع فيديو أنتجته روسيا يصوّر بشكل زائف ادعاءات بتزوير انتخابي في أريزونا لدعم كمالا هاريس، الذي نفاه سكرتير الولاية.
كما أشار البيان إلى “أنشطة سيبرانية خبيثة” أطلقتها إيران للتأثير سلباً على ترامب، مشيراً إلى سعيها للانتقام لمقتل قاسم سليماني في غارة أميركية في العراق في يناير (كانون الثاني) 2020.
