US Elections: Trump and Melania Cast Votes as He Urges Peace, Exudes Confidence
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, cast their ballots in West Palm Beach, Florida. When asked by a reporter if he would call on his supporters to avoid violence should he lose, Trump responded, “I don’t need to tell them there won’t be violence; of course, there won’t be. My supporters are not violent people,” despite the violent protests that shook the U.S. Capitol after his 2020 loss.
The former president added, “I certainly don’t want any violence, but I don’t need to say it. These are great people, people who don’t believe in violence.”
Regarding the election, Trump told reporters, “I feel very confident, and it’s an honor to see the long lines—the Republican lines.” He expressed “great confidence” in winning, emphasizing the Republicans’ “big lead,” even as polls indicate a tight race against his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris. Trump also stated he would concede if the election was “fair.”
Encouraging his supporters to vote regardless of long waits at polling stations, Trump posted on X, “Voting enthusiasm is at an all-time high, which means lines will be long! I want you to vote no matter how long it takes. Stay in line.” He continued, “The radical communist Democrats want you to pack up and go home.”
Meanwhile, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris urged citizens to vote, posting on X, “Today is your last chance to make an impact in this election.”
Polling stations opened Tuesday morning, and Americans headed to vote in a fiercely contested presidential race.

أما فيما يتعلق بالانتخابات، فقال للصحافيين: «أشعر بثقة كبيرة، وبشرف كبير؛ لمعرفة أن الطوابير طويلة، الطوابير الجمهورية». وأعلن المرشح الجمهوري للبيت الأبيض أنه «واثق للغاية» بالفوز في الانتخابات، مشيراً إلى أن الجمهوريين لديهم «تقدّم كبير»، في وقت تشير استطلاعات الرأي إلى تقارب شديد بينه وبين منافسته الديمقراطية كامالا هاريس. وأكد أيضاً أنه سيقرّ بهزيمته «إذا كانت الانتخابات عادلة».
ودعا ترمب أنصاره إلى الإدلاء بأصواتهم بغضّ النظر عن طول الطوابير، وكتب على موقع «إكس»: «الحماس للتصويت في أقصى درجاته، هذا يعني أن الطوابير ستكون طويلة! أريدكم أن تُدْلوا بأصواتكم مهما استغرق الأمر، ابقوا في الطابور». وتابع: «الديمقراطيون الشيوعيون المتطرفون يريدون منكم أن تحزموا أمتعتكم وتذهبوا إلى منازلكم».
من جهتها، دعت المرشحة الديمقراطية، كامالا هاريس، المواطنين إلى التصويت، وقالت على موقع «إكس»: «اليوم هو فرصتكم الأخيرة للتأثير في هذه الانتخابات».
وفتحت مراكز الاقتراع أبوابها صباح الثلاثاء، وتوجّه الناخبون الأميركيون للإدلاء بأصواتهم في انتخابات رئاسية تُعدّ محمومة ومحتدمة بين المرشحين.
