🚨🇾🇪 A ship sailing 51 nautical miles southwest of Al Hudaydah, Yemen, came under armed attack by multiple small vessels, according to a UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) alert issued on July 6, 2025 at 11:25 UTC.

The attackers reportedly opened fire using small arms and self-propelled grenades, prompting the vessel’s Armed Security Team to return fire. The situation remains ongoing and under investigation by local authorities.

This incident is the latest in a series of maritime threats in the southern Red Sea, an increasingly dangerous zone amid rising regional tensions. The UKMTO has advised all vessels transiting the area to exercise extreme caution and immediately report any suspicious activity.

This marks a troubling escalation in maritime security concerns around the Yemeni coast, particularly in waters commonly trafficked by international cargo ships and oil tankers.
