TikTok Restores Service Following Trump’s Assurances, Commits to Long-Term U.S. Presence
Washington, D.C. – TikTok has announced that it is in the process of restoring service to its U.S. users following an agreement with its service providers. The social media giant expressed gratitude to President-Elect Donald Trump, who provided the necessary assurances that service providers would not face penalties for continuing to make TikTok available to over 170 million Americans and supporting 7 million small businesses that rely on the platform.
In a statement, TikTok said:
“It’s a strong stand for the First Amendment and against arbitrary censorship. We will work with President Trump on a long-term solution that keeps TikTok in the United States.”
This announcement follows President Trump’s declaration that he will issue an executive order on Monday, temporarily delaying the enforcement of the ban that took effect at midnight. Trump has indicated interest in negotiating a 50% ownership stake for the U.S. in a joint venture to ensure TikTok’s operations continue securely under American oversight.
TikTok’s shutdown led to an unprecedented wave of concern, with 911 call centers across the U.S. reporting a surge in non-emergency calls from distressed users. Officials have urged the public to remain calm and await further updates from TikTok and the government.
As service restoration continues, TikTok users are encouraged to stay informed through official channels and prepare for potential changes in the platform’s ownership and operational framework.
