New developments indicate that negotiations between Israel and Lebanon are expected to begin soon, but amid continued military operations, with no ceasefire in place.
According to Israeli sources cited by Channel 14, talks with Lebanon will proceed “under fire,” with preparations underway for continued strikes during the negotiation phase.
U.S. officials, cited by Axios, revealed that the latest announcement by Benjamin Netanyahu followed a phone call with Donald Trump and U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff. During the discussion, Witkoff reportedly urged Israel to de-escalate strikes in Lebanon and move toward negotiations.
However, Israeli officials confirmed that no ceasefire is currently planned, and that talks are expected to begin in the coming days while operations continue.
The negotiations are expected to focus on:
• Disarmament of Hezbollah
• Establishing new security arrangements along the border
• Exploring a broader framework for normalization or long-term stability
Reports also indicate that Israel’s ambassador to the United States is expected to lead the negotiations on behalf of Israel, while discussions may involve direct engagement with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.
The situation reflects a dual-track approach, where diplomacy and military pressure are advancing simultaneously, with both sides entering talks without a halt in hostilities.
This marks a significant shift, as negotiations are being pursued in parallel with active conflict, highlighting the urgency and complexity of the situation on the Lebanese front.
