Both US Airmen Rescued From Iran

Both F-15E crew members rescued from Iran after 48-hour ordeal. WSO evaded capture using SERE training while massive rescue operation cost multiple aircraft and fierce firefight with Iranian forces.

In a breathtaking conclusion to a catastrophic 48-hour ordeal that violently tested American military resolve, both crew members of the downed F-15E Strike Eagle are now safely extracted from Iranian territory, completing the most complex combat search-and-rescue operation since the war’s apocalyptic beginning. This miraculous dual recovery follows a desperate manhunt across Iran’s treacherous mountainous terrain where Iranian forces, incentivized by substantial bounties, raced against U.S. special operations teams to capture the missing weapons systems officer before American forces could extract him.

At the brutal mechanical heart of this crisis lies the F-15E’s catastrophic loss Thursday night when Iranian air defenses struck the aircraft deep inside hostile territory. Both crew members ejected successfully, but their fates immediately diverged. The pilot was recovered quickly by Pave Hawk helicopters operating under fire, while the weapons systems officer activated years of SERE training—Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape—to initiate a desperate 48-hour evasion campaign that would push human endurance to its absolute limits.

Trump: WE GOT HIM! My fellow Americans, over the past several hours, the United States Military pulled off one of the most daring Search and Rescue Operations in U.S. History, for one of our incredible Crew Member Officers, who also happens to be a highly respected Colonel, and who I am thrilled to let you know is now SAFE and SOUND! This brave Warrior was behind enemy lines in the treacherous mountains of Iran, being hunted down by our enemies, who were getting closer and closer by the hour, but was never truly alone because his Commander in Chief, Secretary of War, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and fellow Warfighters were monitoring his location 24 hours a day, and diligently planning for his rescue. At my direction, the U.S. Military sent dozens of aircraft, armed with the most lethal weapons in the World, to retrieve him. He sustained injuries, but he will be just fine. This miraculous Search and Rescue Operation comes in addition to a successful rescue of another brave Pilot, yesterday, which we did not confirm, because we did not want to jeopardize our second rescue operation. This is the first time in military memory that two U.S. Pilots have been rescued, separately, deep in Enemy Territory. WE WILL NEVER LEAVE AN AMERICAN WARFIGHTER BEHIND! The fact that we were able to pull off both of these operations, without a SINGLE American killed, or even wounded, just proves once again, that we have achieved overwhelming Air Dominance and Superiority over the Iranian skies. This is a moment that ALL Americans, Republican, Democrat, and everyone else, should be proud of and united around. We truly have the best, most professional, and lethal Military in the History of the World. GOD BLESS AMERICA, GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS, AND HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!

The missing WSO hiked away from the burning wreckage through mountainous terrain, hiding on an elevated ridge while activating his emergency beacon and evading Iranian search parties desperately scanning the landscape. Iran’s public reward for his capture transformed every villager into a potential threat, creating a terrifying game of cat-and-mouse where discovery meant captivity, torture, and catastrophic propaganda defeat for American forces. U.S. special operations teams infiltrated deep into Iranian territory, fighting their way toward the isolated airman while IRGC forces closed the net with every passing hour.

The rescue operation exacted a devastating toll. A fierce firefight erupted between U.S. forces and Iranian troops as extraction teams battled through hostile territory. Two U.S. helicopters were struck by ground fire, crew members sustaining injuries in the apocalyptic exchange. An A-10 Warthog providing suppressive cover crashed in Kuwait during the intense operation. Multiple aircraft had to be destroyed rather than fall into Iranian hands, representing catastrophic equipment losses that compound the war’s already staggering material costs.

The weapons systems officer sustained significant injuries during evasion and extraction but is now safe and receiving medical treatment. His survival through 48 hours of relentless pursuit, harsh terrain, and constant danger represents a testament to elite training, individual courage, and uncompromising American commitment to leaving no warfighter behind regardless of cost or risk.

The Pentagon is withholding further operational details due to sensitive ongoing missions, but this successful dual rescue definitively proves that even as Iranian air defenses score devastating hits against American aircraft, U.S. special operations retain capacity to penetrate deep into enemy territory and extract personnel against overwhelming opposition. The operation’s success denies Tehran a potentially war-altering propaganda victory while reinforcing allied confidence in American military capability and resolve.
