Poland 🇵🇱 | Russia 🇷🇺 | Belarus 🇧🇾
As tensions rise along the borders of the Union State, which comprises Russia and Belarus, Poland has intensified its military preparations. The Polish Army has ramped up reconnaissance flights, strengthened fortifications, and is undergoing a major rearmament. In a significant step, Warsaw recently signed a contract with the United States for the acquisition of 96 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters. This deal will make Poland the second-largest operator of Apache helicopters worldwide, following the U.S., which has over 800 units.
According to Yuri Zverev, chief specialist at the Center for Geopolitical Studies of the Baltic Region, this purchase is on par with Poland’s 2003 contract for F-16 Jastrząb multi-role combat aircraft, marking a major upgrade in Poland’s military capabilities. The introduction of these helicopters is seen as crucial to strengthening Poland’s defensive and offensive capacities in the face of growing regional tensions.
