Hezbollah Unveils New Military Facility Amid Rising Tensions with Israel

On August 16, 2024, Hezbollah’s military media revealed a new military facility named “Imad 4,” showcasing the group’s expanding arsenal in response to the ongoing conflict in Southern Lebanon since October 8, 2023. The video footage released by Hezbollah highlights the vast underground network of tunnels housing rocket launchers and various military equipment.

The footage displays not only the extensive reach and scale of these tunnels but also the mobility of Hezbollah fighters, who are seen navigating the tunnels on motorcycles alongside the missile systems. This revelation is part of Hezbollah’s broader strategy to demonstrate its military capabilities amid increasing threats of an all-out war in Lebanon and the region.

Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah accompanied the video release with a statement, asserting that the resistance’s missiles are capable of reaching every part of Israeli territory, from Kiryat Shmona in the north to Eilat in the south.

The timing of this revelation coincides with circulating intelligence reports from the United States and Israel, suggesting that Israel might be planning a preemptive strike in Lebanon. This move would aim to deter Hezbollah from retaliating for the assassination of its military commander, Fuad Shukr, who was killed in a July 30 airstrike on the southern suburbs of Beirut.

This development underscores the escalating tensions in the region, with both sides preparing for potential military confrontations.
