Tylor Chase, the former child actor best known for his role as Martin on Nickelodeon’s Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, spent Christmas Day in a hospital after a successful intervention pulled him off the streets of Riverside, California. The 34-year-old, who has been battling homelessness, addiction, and severe mental health issues, was admitted for a three-day detox program, offering a glimmer of hope to his worried family and fans.

The breakthrough came via the efforts of influencer and interventionist Jacob “Jake” Harris, who was enlisted by Chase’s father to locate and assist his troubled son. Harris confirmed the hospitalization in an Instagram update, stating, “We finally got Tylor the help he needed. He’s currently receiving medical attention to get him healthy, to get him all better.”
According to Harris, the situation on the ground was precarious. He spent over an hour with Chase in a parking lot on Christmas, facilitating phone calls with family members and friends who encouraged the actor to accept treatment. While Chase initially appeared “spooked” and resistant—at one point telling Harris, “I like my life the way it is”—a crisis center team was eventually called to the scene. They performed a same-day evaluation and determined that Chase required immediate medical intervention, transporting him to a local facility for a 72-hour hold.
Chase’s descent into homelessness became public knowledge in September after a TikTok video of him living on the streets went viral. The footage caught the attention of Shaun Weiss, the Mighty Ducks star who famously recovered from his own public battle with methamphetamine addiction. Weiss reached out to Harris to spearhead a rescue mission. “The future is looking bright,” Harris told the Daily Mail. “He just needed someone to actually do something to help.”
The intervention follows failed attempts by others to stabilize the actor. Former co-star Daniel Curtis Lee had previously secured a motel room for Chase, only for the room to be destroyed in an incident fueled by Chase’s condition. Chase’s father has also revealed that his son suffers from bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, diagnoses that have complicated his struggle with substance abuse. A previous stint in a Georgia rehab facility in 2021 ended when Chase rejected further treatment and returned to California.
While it remains unclear where Chase will be transferred after his initial detox, the Christmas Day hospitalization marks the most significant step toward recovery the actor has taken in years.
