🇹🇼 Taiwan has launched Han Kuang 41, its largest-ever military drill, in July 2025. Spanning 10 days—double the usual duration, the exercise involves 22,000 reservists, setting a new record for manpower deployment.
This year’s war game includes live-fire scenarios featuring U.S.-supplied M1A2T Abrams tanks and HIMARS launchers, alongside Taiwan’s indigenous missile systems. The unscripted drills aim to simulate real combat and hybrid “grey zone” warfare, particularly threats posed by China’s expanding influence and capabilities.
Strategic emphasis is placed on:
• Decentralized command systems
• Defending critical infrastructure and ports
• Fortifying Taiwan’s outer islands
These elements reflect lessons learned from the Ukraine conflict, especially in countering larger adversaries through asymmetric tactics and rapid-response strategies.
Military analysts view Han Kuang 41 as Taiwan’s most ambitious signal of readiness to date amid rising regional tensions.
