The exercises follow the United States’ approval of a record-breaking $11 billion arms package for Taiwan earlier this month, which includes advanced radar systems and mobile missile launchers. Additionally, friction has intensified following comments by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, who recently suggested that Tokyo could not remain neutral in the event of a cross-strait conflict. Beijing has framed these moves as “crossing the red line,” using the drills to demonstrate its capability to isolate Taiwan from its allies militarily.
Military experts note that the scope of “Justice Mission-2025” exceeds previous exercises like “Joint Sword-2024.” The integration of the Rocket Force suggests a focus on precision strikes against land-based targets and mobile naval assets.
