🛫🇮🇳 A preliminary investigation into last month’s tragic Air India crash reveals that fuel to both engines was abruptly cut off moments after takeoff, triggering the catastrophic descent.
According to the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), both fuel switches moved from “RUN” to “CUTOFF” nearly simultaneously, causing immediate thrust loss.
Cockpit voice recordings exposed crew confusion, with one pilot asking, “Why did you cut off the fuel?” and the other denying doing so.
Though one engine was briefly restarted, it wasn’t enough to halt the aircraft’s descent. The accident led to the deaths of 241 passengers and 19 individuals on the ground.
The AAIB has not yet confirmed if the cutoff was accidental or mechanical, but human error remains under review.
