BREAKING: Israel Cuts Electricity to Last Facility in Gaza Receiving Israeli Power
Israel has cut off the last remaining electricity supply to Gaza, disconnecting a wastewater treatment facility that was still receiving power from the Israel Electric Corporation (IEC). Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen stated that the move was intended to pressure Hamas into releasing hostages.
Hamas criticized the action as “a continuation of Israel’s genocidal war against Gaza,” while Israeli far-right politician Itamar Ben Gvir called for further measures, including targeting fuel supplies and generators used by Hamas.
This development comes as negotiations between Israel and Hamas continue in Cairo and Doha, with U.S. special envoy Adam Boehler expressing optimism that a ceasefire deal could be reached within weeks.
