U.S. President Donald J. Trump said the United States is in serious discussions with what he described as a “new, and more reasonable” Iranian leadership to end military operations.

He stated that significant progress has been made toward a deal, but warned that if an agreement is not reached soon—and if the Strait of Hormuz is not fully reopened—the U.S. will carry out major strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure.
Trump specifically mentioned potential targets including electric power plants, oil facilities, Kharg Island, and desalination plants, adding that these sites have not yet been targeted.
He said such actions would be taken in response to what he described as years of Iranian actions against U.S. forces.
