U.S. President Donald Trump said that most NATO allies have declined to participate in the ongoing U.S. military operation against Iran in the Middle East, despite broad agreement among member states that Iran should not acquire nuclear weapons.

In a statement, Trump expressed frustration with the alliance, describing NATO as “a one-way street”, where the United States provides security guarantees while receiving limited support in return during times of conflict.

He noted that while many allied nations support the strategic objective of preventing Iran from developing nuclear capabilities, they have chosen not to engage directly in military operations.

Trump added that this response was not unexpected, reiterating long-standing concerns about burden-sharing within NATO and the level of military commitment from partner nations.

U.S. Military Position

The president emphasized that the United States has already achieved significant military progress in its campaign against Iran.

According to Trump, U.S. operations have targeted key components of Iran’s military infrastructure, including:
• Naval assets
• Air force capabilities
• Air defense and radar systems
• Senior leadership structures

He argued that these actions have substantially reduced Iran’s ability to project military power in the region.

Allies and Strategic Independence

Trump stated that, given the current situation, the United States does not require additional military support from NATO or other allies.

He also referenced countries such as Japan, Australia, and South Korea, suggesting that U.S. operations will continue independently of external involvement.

The remarks reflect a broader stance emphasizing U.S. strategic autonomy, particularly in high-intensity conflicts where rapid decision-making and operational control are prioritized.

Ongoing Developments

The comments come amid continued military activity in the region and ongoing international discussions regarding:
• Maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz
• Energy market stability
• Potential diplomatic pathways

While NATO has not issued a unified operational response, the alliance has maintained its general position on regional stability and non-proliferation.

The situation remains dynamic, with further developments expected as both military operations and diplomatic efforts continue.
