U.S. President Donald J. Trump criticized France, calling it “VERY UNHELPFUL” after alleging that Paris denied U.S. warplanes access to its airspace during operations linked to the war with Iran.
In a post, Trump said American aircraft heading toward Israel with military supplies were refused passage, adding that “the U.S.A. will REMEMBER.”
Reports also indicate that Spain has denied U.S. military aircraft use of its airspace for Iran-related operations, while Italy has rejected certain requests for American bombers to land at bases in Sicily.
France’s military has previously stated that U.S. aircraft may use shared bases for non-combat operations only, and there has been no official confirmation from French leadership regarding a broader denial of airspace access.
