An Israeli military source warned that any Lebanese village used to launch rockets toward Israel could face destruction after residents are evacuated. The statement reflects a growing escalation in Israel’s military posture as fighting with Hezbollah intensifies along the Lebanese border.
According to the source, Israel intends to issue evacuation warnings to civilians before targeting locations used for rocket launches, indicating that villages serving as launch sites could be struck once residents leave the area. Israeli officials say the policy is aimed at preventing attacks on Israeli towns while minimizing civilian casualties.
The warning comes amid a sharp increase in Israeli operations in Lebanon following Hezbollah rocket and drone attacks on Israeli territory, which triggered large-scale Israeli airstrikes and ground operations in southern Lebanon.
In recent days, the Israeli military has issued mass evacuation warnings to multiple towns and neighborhoods in Lebanon, including areas around Beirut and villages near the southern border, ahead of planned strikes on suspected Hezbollah positions.
Israeli officials say their objective is to eliminate Hezbollah’s rocket infrastructure and create conditions that prevent further attacks on northern Israel, while Hezbollah continues to fire rockets toward Israeli communities as part of the widening regional conflict.
