Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said the military will continue to hold a significant security zone in southern Lebanon even after the war against Hezbollah ends.
He stated that Israeli forces will maintain control up to the Litani River, establishing a defensive line against anti-tank threats and ensuring ongoing security presence in the area.
Katz added that civilians evacuated from southern Lebanon would be prevented from returning until the security of northern Israeli communities is guaranteed.
He also said that all homes in villages near the border would be demolished as part of the operation.
Following his remarks, the IDF issued evacuation warnings to residents in several neighborhoods in Beirut’s southern suburbs, stating that operations targeting Hezbollah infrastructure are ongoing.
