Israel Kills Hezbollah Southern Front Commander

Israel says it killed Hezbollah’s Southern Front commander in a Beirut strike, targeting a key figure in operations in southern Lebanon.

The IDF announced that it eliminated Hajj Yusuf Ismail Hashem, commander of Hezbollah’s Southern Front, in a naval strike carried out in Beirut.

According to the military, the Southern Front is the unit responsible for directing Hezbollah’s military operations in southern Lebanon, including attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF forces. During his tenure, Hashem oversaw rocket and drone launches toward Israel and played a key role in rebuilding Hezbollah’s operational capabilities.

Hashem was described as a veteran commander with over 40 years of experience and a central figure within Hezbollah. He assumed leadership of the Southern Front after the killing of his predecessor, Ali Karaki, who was eliminated alongside Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

The IDF stated that Hashem had previously commanded multiple combat units, including Nasr, Aziz, and Badr units, which were involved in operations against Israeli forces and cross-border attacks.

According to the military, he was responsible for advancing thousands of attack plans against Israel in recent years.

The IDF said his elimination represents a significant blow to Hezbollah’s ability to conduct offensive operations and sustain combat activities in southern Lebanon.
