Dramatic new video footage has emerged from the mass terror attack at the Hanukkah event on Bondi Beach in Sydney, showing an extraordinary act of defiance by an unarmed Jewish man who confronted one of the gunmen.
Man Points Finger at Gunman in Defiance
The footage captures a tense and deadly moment during the rampage on Sunday, December 14, 2025:
• The Confrontation: The video reportedly shows one of the terrorists firing shots at a Jewish man who, instead of taking cover or fleeing the scene, stands his ground and points his finger directly at the gunman in an apparent act of challenge.
• Wounds to Hero: This moment of defiance is separate from the actions of the hero, Ahmed al Ahmed, 43, who wrestled the gun from the second shooter. Ahmed al Ahmed was shot twice by the second shooter who was firing from a bridge and is currently undergoing surgery.
• Fatalities: The attack, officially declared a terrorist incident, tragically resulted in 12 people killed (including 11 victims, one of whom was Rabbi Eli Shlanger, and one gunman) and 29 injured.
Investigation and Attack Status
The investigation continues to focus on both the attackers and potential international links:
• Gunmen Status: One gunman, Naveed Akram, was killed by police; the second is in custody in critical condition.
• IED Threat: Australian Police confirmed the discovery of an IED in a car linked to a suspect, confirming the plot was intended to be far more devastating.
• International Probe: Israeli security sources are actively probing a potential link to terror infrastructure built by Iran in Australia and are investigating the possibility of the attack being carried out by Hezbollah in retaliation for the assassination of its Chief of Staff.
