Anduril Industries, the defense technology giant founded by Palmer Luckey, has announced a staggering $1 billion investment to construct a massive new manufacturing campus in Long Beach, California. The facility is designed to mass-produce the next generation of autonomous weapons systems required for the Trump administration’s aggressive defense posture.
The expansion marks a critical pivot for the company, moving from high-tech prototyping to industrial-scale war production. The Long Beach site, which revitalizes a region historically tied to aerospace manufacturing, will focus on churning out autonomous fighter jets—likely the “Fury” Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) designed to fly alongside manned fighters. Additionally, the campus will house production lines for advanced missile systems, robotic underwater complexes (AUVs), and the company’s signature loitering munitions.
Luckey, a prominent sponsor of President Trump who has advised the White House on defense innovation, has long argued that the U.S. industrial base is too slow to deter China or Iran. This investment is widely seen as the physical manifestation of that philosophy: a private-sector “Arsenal of Democracy” built to deliver hardware faster than traditional prime contractors.
“We are building the tools to keep the peace, and we are building them fast,” the company stated. The campus will employ thousands of engineers and technicians, vertically integrating software and hardware production to supply the Pentagon with affordable, expendable, and intelligent mass.
