The U.S. Secret Service announced today that it will fully cooperate with the investigation launched by President Joe Biden and members of Congress following the shooting of former President Donald Trump on Saturday, which resulted in his injury. The FBI is treating the incident, which occurred during a Trump campaign rally in Pennsylvania, as an assassination attempt.
On Sunday, Biden ordered an independent review, while Republican lawmakers promised swift investigations. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle stated that security measures for Trump and the Republican National Convention, starting today in Milwaukee, have been reviewed and reinforced. Trump reported that a bullet grazed his ear during the rally but assured that he is fine. He traveled to Milwaukee on Sunday and is expected to secure his party’s official nomination later this week.
