U.S. President Donald J. Trump said he is not ready “quite yet” to abandon efforts to force Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, according to remarks made to CBS News.
Trump expressed frustration that other countries have not contributed military assets to the ongoing conflict, suggesting they should take a more active role in securing the vital waterway.
He stated that while the United States may eventually step back, it will continue its involvement for now, adding that other nations must “do their own work.”
Trump also claimed that Iran has been significantly weakened and downplayed the level of threat in the Strait of Hormuz despite ongoing tensions in the region.
