In a powerful show of support, Venezuelan special forces commandos have publicly declared their unwavering loyalty to President Nicolás Maduro, stating they are ready to “give their lives” for their country and its leader. The announcement, made during a televised military ceremony, comes as tensions escalate with the United States over a growing naval presence in the Caribbean.
The declaration of loyalty is a direct counterpoint to recent U.S. actions, which include the deployment of multiple warships, a submarine, and thousands of troops to the region under the guise of an anti-drug cartel operation. The U.S. government has also accused Maduro of leading a major drug trafficking network and has placed a $50 million bounty on his arrest.
During a speech to the troops, Maduro reinforced his defiance, stating there was “no way” the U.S. could invade his country. He thanked the military for its readiness to defend Venezuela’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The display of loyalty by special forces underscores the importance of the military in maintaining Maduro’s grip on power and signals a unified front against external threats.
