A mass shooting has occurred at the Annunciation Church and Catholic School in Minneapolis, with emergency dispatch audio reporting at least 20 victims. The incident unfolded during the first week of classes, on a day when an all-school Mass was scheduled.
Police and emergency services, including the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF), responded to the scene on West 54th Street. The city of Minneapolis has confirmed that the shooter has been “contained” and there is no longer an “active threat” to the community. Multiple sources have reported that the suspect is dead.
While initial information on casualties is limited and developing, sources told KNSI radio that two people are dead and four are in critical condition. The incident prompted a large-scale police and paramedic response, and parents have been advised to go to a designated reunification zone to meet their children.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has been briefed on the situation and expressed his prayers for the students and teachers. This shooting is the latest in a series of violent incidents in Minneapolis over the past 24 hours.
