U.S. Ends Electronic Warfare Support for Ukraine’s F-16s Amid Federal Layoffs
Ukrainian media report that the United States has stopped supporting electronic warfare (EW) systems on transferred F-16 fighter jets, raising concerns about Ukraine’s ability to counter Russian air defenses.
Simultaneously, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) is set to lay off thousands of federal employees as part of President Trump’s spending cuts, led by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
• 1,000 workers at McAlester Army Ammunition Plant (MCAAP) in Oklahoma will lose their jobs, significantly affecting operations at one of America’s largest munition depots.
• 600 federal employees at Tinker Air Force Base, a crucial logistics hub, will also be laid off.
• Republican Senator James Lankford has warned that these cuts could cripple U.S. ammunition production and Air Force operations.
This comes as Ukraine struggles to maintain military aid from the U.S., with the halt in EW support for F-16s potentially leaving the jets vulnerable in future combat.
